Lake Oswego Holiday Market

Saturday & Sunday

December 5 & 6

9 am – 4 pm

Millennium Plaza Park in Downtown Lake Oswego

Adapted from traditional European holiday markets, we are delighted to offer local artisans, cooks, crafters, businesses and growers an opportunity to offer their goods for holiday decorating and entertaining.  This year all vendors will be situated inside a large tent(s) for protection from the elements.  Local musicians will provide a background of holiday music, and a roaring fire and heaters will provide a reprieve from the chill.  This is sure to be a family-friendly shopping experience just in time for the holidays. (Stop by on Sunday, December 6 from 11 am to 3 pm for a horse and carriage ride around downtown Lake Oswego!)

Lake Oswego’s 2009 Holiday Market is happy to welcome violinist Deborah Katz who performs on December 5 and 6 from 12 noon to 3 pm. at Millennium Plaza Park.

Classically trained, Deborah began playing violin when she was just 9 and began singing even earlier. She grew her musical “chops” playing with the Marin Youth Orchestra, studied music at San Francisco State, and sang in many choirs in the Bay Area. Known for playing with passion, emotion, and creativity, Deborah plays all styles of music - classical, rock, blues, country, rockabilly, funk, jazz, and more. Improvising inventive melodies on the spot is her trademark, leading to the moniker “The Fearless Fiddler.” In addition to her solo work, Deborah plays and sings with rockabilly band The SlimJims and country band The Rhinestoners. She just joined a new group, The Dirty Harleys, and occasionally plays with singer/songwriters KC Craine and Troy Richmond Dixon.

At the Holiday Market Deborah will play classical music, traditional holiday selections, and jazzy seasonal tunes

Deborah is available for playing at weddings, venues and events, as well as collaborating, recording, and teaching.

Christmas Ship Viewing

Saturday, December 19

Ships' Arrival at Foothills Park is approximately 6 pm

2009 marks the 55th year of the Christmas Ship Parade on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers in Portland. The Christmas Ship fleet averages about 55 to 60 boats between the Columbia & Willamette River fleets.  This year both fleets will parade down the Willamette to beautiful Lake Oswego. You can enjoy the sparkle of the ships from the shores at Foothills Park.  Hot chocolate and a warm fire will guard you from frigid temperatures.

Weather and/or water conditions are the only element that will cancel the ships performance. That determination is made by the leaders for the evening about a half hour before the ships are scheduled to begin performing and will be posted at:  www.christmasship.org
