More information TBD. There will be a public forum on plastic bags tomorrow night in Council Chambers. Would be great to get some youth voices there. Approval of Minutes Minutes were unanimously approved. Public Comment None Regular Business A. Council Update Joe Buck summarized what the City Council will be reviewing in September after their August break. Parks will be giving an update on what went wrong with the 4th of July Fireworks. Will also be looking at a drone lightshow for next year. Big paving projects going on around the City- D Avenue and Iron Mountain. New dog park at Waluga Park opening. DRC gave approval to Mercantile development on the corner of Kruse Way and Boones Ferry Road. Looking at electrifying the trolley. B. LO Speaks Planning LO Speaks is scheduled for January 12, but the Youncil would like to move it to January 19.Jenny will check with the Lake Theater to see if it can be moved. Cyndie Glazer has said it will be fine to include this as part of LO Reads-this really helps with marketing the event. We will need to recruit youth speakers- looking at 3 to 4 this year. Really need to get moving on advertising that. The theme will still be Untold Stories, maybe look at partnering with the LO Review to host the event. Applications for youth speakers will close on November 2. We will not do auditions this year. C. Mental Health Football Game The football game is next Friday night.Jenny had to order shirts at the last minute since a design was not sent to her. They will arrive on the 14th, but may not arrive before then. Kyle asked for advanced sales, but this may not be possible. The shirts will be sold for$10 to make sure that the costs are covered and a donation to Lines for Life can be made. Shirts will be sold at the game and Clackamas County will have a table there as well. The Youncil discussed a halftime presentation, but most people get up and get snacks during halftime, so a short announcement is best. Renee will make the announcement.Jenny will arrange to get a Square so that credit card sales are possible. D. City Council Debate The Candidate Forum will take place from 6-8pm on October 18 at the Lakewood Center. Margo, Brooke, and Michael have been working with the Review to plan the event. Will send out a letter to teachers to try to get extra credit for students who attend the forum. The Youncil will also host a table about voter registration. The Review will help with ads in the paper, prepare questions for the debate, and provide comment cards. E. Retreat Discussion Due to budget limitations, our retreat will be at Foothills Park, on September 22 from 1-5pm.We will have a picnic and play games. The meeting was adjourned at 7:15 pm.
