Call to Order/Roll Call Renee Kozlowski called the December 5, 2018 meeting of the Youth Leadership Council (YLC)to order at 5:15 p.m. in Main Fire Station Conference Room, 300 B Avenue, Lake Oswego, Oregon. Members Present: Sofia Marin-Quiros, Seba Marin-Quiros, Natalie Goldberg, Claire Fennell, Renee Kozlowski, Margo Sidline, Brooke Baker, River Smith, Kyle Langford,Jensen Kaelin, Michael Murray Members Excused/Absent Joe Buck Staff: Jenny Slepian, Sustainability and Management Analyst Public: None Announcements from Board and Staff • There will be a "college life" event at the Library on December 19.All past YLC members are welcome to attend and present. • Brooke recapped the City Council meeting last night where so many youth gave public comment on the youth voting ordinance.The ordinance did not proceed as the Mayor was unable to get his motion seconded. • The Youncil discussed who might replace Joe Buck as their Council Liaison.They expressed a preference for Daniel Nguyen. Approval of Minutes The November minutes were approved. Public Comment None Regular Business A. Council Update Councilor Buck was not present for an update. B. LO Speaks Planning We currently have two committed youth speakers,who need to send their speeches as soon as possible. We have a few maybes for adult speakers-Carol Collymore from Nike, Mike Cassidy who will speak about mental health and drug abuse, and Jared Blank. We may need to recruit a few more speakers. Remaining tasks: • Natalie will write an article to submit to HelloLO by December 15 • Seba will speak with Cyndie Glazer to confirm inclusion in LO Reads • Michael and Kyle will try to find local business sponsors There was a brief discussion about how to get rid of the remaining t-shirts. We are still over$1200 in debt. The meeting was adjourned at 6:19 pm.
