Library's Third Tuesday Author Series at 7 p.m.
The Lake Oswego Public Library Third Tuesday Author Series is pleased to present local author Scott Sparling on Tuesday, April 17 at 7:00 p.m.
Sparling is the author of Wire to Wire, his first novel, published by Tin House Books in June 2011. Wire to Wire was voted the Pacific Northwest Booksellers' BuzzBook at the PNBA Annual Conference in 2011, and it was recently designated as a 2012 Michigan Notable Book. It was called "well crafted and thrilling" by Publishers Weekly and "Smart, thrilling and darkly funny," by The Oregonian, which described it as "a muscular cross between Jim Thompson and Cormac McCarthy."
Sparling grew up in Michigan and has lived in Lake Oswego since 1989. He began the book in the mid-1980s and will be talking about the path that led to getting it published and how the book changed as he grew older. He'll also talk about his experiences riding freight trains across the country, which served as the basis for part of the book.
This free event is presented with the generous support of the Friends of the Lake Oswego Library. The Lake Oswego Public Library is located at 706 Fourth Street, Lake Oswego. For more information, contact Alicia Yokoyama at 503-534-5285.
