2018 City Council Goals

On Saturday, January 6, 2018, the City Council met to set goals for the new year.  Prior to the retreat, the Council solicited comments to hear the public’s thoughts on what the city should focus on in 2018. The goals were formally adopted at the January 16 City Council meeting.

2018 City Council Goals

In recognition of the fact that many secondary goals are being pursued and that there are many ongoing plans of the City Council, the primary 2018 City Council goals (not in priority order) are:

  • Decide on the future of the municipal golf course.
  • Explore opportunities for sale of city surplus properties.
  • Identify a site and financing plan for a permanent recreation center.
  • Reconsider the Council Policy on annexation.
  • Adopt a climate change action plan and begin implementing it.
  • Adopt a strategy for addressing PERS increases.
  • Accelerate the construction of pathway connections. Explore strategies for completing the Roehr Pathway connection to George Rogers Park, and the River-to-River Trail.
  • Decide on the level and scope of City participation in replacement of the LOSD swimming pool.
  • Adopt the tools identified in 2017 for more economical workforce housing.
