In July 2012, the City Council approved a revised Foothills Framework Plan that defines a guiding vision and specific recommendations for redevelopment of the Foothills District into a vibrant mixed use neighborhood connecting downtown Lake Oswego with the Willamette River. The adopted Framework Plan recommends urban renewal as a tool for funding the public infrastructure needed to support private development in the District. To begin implementation of this recommendation, a focus group has been convened to provide input on development of a Foothills urban renewal plan. The focus group met once in September and will meet again on October 18.
A public meeting is set for 7 p.m., October 24 at City Hall, to give residents an opportunity to hear about the proposed plan.
The City’s website, www.ci.oswego.or.us/ed/foothills, describes the urban renewal planning process and will have updates on opportunities for public input and review of the proposed urban renewal plan. For further information, contact Sidaro Sin, Economic and Capital Development, at 503-697-7421.
