CAD Design Requirements

 

DESIGN REQUIREMENTS

TITLE

 

SECTION            CONSTRUCTION AND AS-BUILT DRAWINGS

01 --  Purpose    The following requirements are intended as a guide for the preparation of construction drawings for public and private improvements required by the City and for the preparation of as-built drawings needed to document how these improvements were actually constructed. These requirements apply to drawings prepared by consulting engineers and by the City. Additional requirements may be added by the City Engineer as needed to fulfill this purpose.

02  --  Engineer Registration and Certification  --  All construction drawings shall be stamped, signed and dated, prior to City approval, by a civil engineer registered with the State of Oregon. An expiration date of the civil engineer's stamp shall also be shown below the signed stamp.

03  --  Quality

A.     The City Engineer shall reject any construction or as-built drawing that is not  

         clear, legible, or depicted in an understandable manner.

        

B.     All line work and lettering text shall be done with permanent archival black ink or

        acceptable forms of graphic products such as machine produced lettering text.

04  --  Construction Drawings

A.     Submittal and Approval.     Construction drawings shall be submitted and

        approved prior to issuing of building permits or advertising for bids.

B.     Sheet Sizes.     Sheet sizes shall be 22" x 34" or 24" x 36" only.

C.     Materials.     Drawings shall be bond photo copies of the originals.

 

05  --  Sheet Separation  --      For both construction and as-built drawings.

A.     Wastewater shall be shown on the same sheets.

B.     Water Improvements shall be shown on a separate sheet.

C.     Street and Drainage Improvements shall be shown on the same sheets.

D.     A Composite Sheet shall be prepared showing sanitary sewer, water, drainage,

        street improvement and private utilities in plan view at a scale not less than

        1"= 100'.

 

E.     Combined Plan and Profile  --  The plan view of each improvement shall be

        accompanied by its profile on the same sheet.

 

F.     Additional As-Built Drawing Required when wastewater, water or street and

        storm drainage are shown on the same sheet instead of separated as stated

        above in this section. 

06  --  As-Built Drawings

A.     Final Inspection.     Prior to final inspection, the City will be supplied with the

        above mentioned type of material copies of the proposed as-built drawings.

B.     As-Built Submittal.     Final, corrected as-built drawings shall be submitted within 

        30 days after the final inspection.


C.     Accuracy.     The following statement shall be noted on each as-built sheet:  "The

        improvements noted on these drawings were constructed in accordance with the 

        plans and specifications by the City. These drawings are a true and accurate

        representation of the actual construction".

D.     Sheet Size.     Sheet sizes shall be 22" x 34" or 24" x 36" only .

E.    Materials/Digital.     The City shall be given approved 20 lb. bond and a compact disk of

the final as-built drawings.  Any form of sepia mylar, blueline, xerographic mylar or aerial photo mylar will not be accepted.

F.    CAD Requirements. CAD drawings shall be accompanied with a CTB or STB file or equivalent and all references shall be included.  If the drawing originates in Auto CAD, it is suggested that etransmit (found under the file menu) be used to keep xreferences included and attached drawings.

07  --  Scale

 

An engineering plan scale of 1"= 10', 20', 30', 40' or 50' shall be used. Architectural scales may be used for buildings and special details, or as approved by the City Engineer. Profile horizontal scale must match plan scale.

 

08  --  Title Block  --  Each sheet shall include a title block with the following

information:

A.     Development name and location by section, township and range.

B.     Developer's name, address and phone number.

C.     Engineer's name, address and phone number.

D.     Space for revisions and dates.

E.     Label what improvements are shown on the sheet.

F.     Sheet number of that sheet along with the total number of sheets.

G.     Engineering consultant’s company logo.  

09  --  Drawing Information  --  Construction drawings and as-built drawings shall show and clearly identify the following items:

 

A.     North arrow and scale.

B.     Vicinity map (on cover sheet) showing project location.

C.     Legend and abbreviations.

D.     Notes.

E.     Cover sheet with an index of sheet numbers accompanied with drawing titles of

        each sheet.

F.     North shall be directed above the horizon line. 

G.     Existing Natural Features  --  show and identify as required by development

        standards the following features:

 

  • Trees  --  show size and type.
  • Topography  --  show contours, spot elevations and topographic bench marks.
  •  

            (T.B.M.). All drawings are to be on the City of Lake Oswego datum.

  • Streams  --  show banks and corridor boundaries.
  • Wetlands  --  show boundaries and inventory as required.
  • Floodplains  --  show floodway and floodplain boundaries.
  • Surface rock.

 

H.     Existing Utilities and Structures  --  such as:

 

  • Edges of road surfaces  --  show width, material and location relative to centerline
  • of right-of-way.

  • Utility lines  --  sanitary sewers, storm drains, water, gas, power, telephone, cable,

           etc.  --  show sizes if known.

  • Structures  --  telephone poles, buildings, vaults, manholes, valves, etc.

 I.       Proposed Cuts and Fills  --  show limits and two-foot contours.

 

J.      Boundary Lines  --  show existing and proposed lines with dimensions and

         identification of the following:

 

  • Section lines.
  • Property and right-of-way lines.
  • Development boundaries.
  • Easements.
  • Restricted areas  --  open spaces, preservation areas, restricted areas, etc.        
  • Development phases or block boundaries.
  • City and County lines
  • Sheet Match Lines

  

 K.     Proposed Street Improvements  --  show dimensions, descriptions, location and

        stationing of the following: 

  • Roads plans and x-sections  --  show width, materials, rights-of-way, utility

          locations, etc.

  • Curb lines  --  show curb types.
  • Sidewalks and pathways  --  show widths, materials, typical x-sections, and

relationships to street lights, fire hydrants, trees, etc.

  • Street lights  --  show type and location.
  • Related detail drawings.
  • Identify public vs. private streets.

L.     Proposed Drainage Improvements  --  show dimensions, description, location and

        stationing of the following:

 

  • Storm drains  --  show size, length and type.
  • Private roof and foundation drain systems.
  • Manholes  --  label with capital letters.
  • Related structures  --  catch basins, ditch inlets, etc.
  • Ditches  --  show typical sections including depth, width and side slopes.
  • Detention facilities  --  show sections, proposed contours and details where

           applicable.

  • Other related structures or features.
  • Related detail drawings.
  • Identify public vs. private.

 

M.     Proposed Sanitary Sewer Improvements  --  show dimensions, description,

         location and stationing of the following:

 

  • Wastewater lines  --  show size, length and type.
  • Manholes  --  label with numbers.
  • Cleanouts  --  label with numbers.
  • Service laterals  --  show length, station, location, depth, size and type.
  • Other related structures and features.
  • Related detail drawings.
  • Identify public vs. private.

SECTION (09 CONT’D)        CONSTRUCTION AND AS-BUILT DRAWINGS

 

N.     Proposed Water Improvements  --  show dimensions, description, location and

        stationing of the following:

 

  • Water lines  --  show lines, length and type.
  • Fire hydrants
  • Valves  --  show size and type.
  • Blocking  --  show type and size.
  • Water service lines  --  show location, length and size.
  • Other related structures and features.
  • Related detail drawings.
  • Identify public vs. private.
  • Borehole locations.

 

10  --  Profiles  --  Profiles shall be provided for proposed streets, storm drain

lines, stream or ditch improvements, sanitary sewer lines and water lines. The following

information shall be included:

 

A.     Proposed improvements  --  lines and streets.

B.     Proposed finished ground.

C.     Existing ground and street surfaces.

D.     Existing utility lines and other structures.

E.     Horizontal and vertical scales.

F.     Stationing.

G.     Lengths of line segments.

H.     Sizes of lines.

I.       Slopes of lines and streets.

J.      Invert elevations at manholes, catch basins, ends of lines, etc.

K.     Elevations of manhole lids and catch basin grates.

L.      Backfill classes  --  show lengths and depths.

M.     Subgrade stabilization areas.
