WO #075 |

 |
Over the last decade the City has annually pledged a portion of the revenues received from residents' water bills to the replacement of old, undersized and leaky water pipes with new water lines that improve energy efficiency, water quality, fire suppression capability and reduce water loss. Normally, City engineering staff assumes the design and construction administration role for these improvements, but due to other more pressing infrastructure projects, design and construction administration has been outsourced to DeHaas & Associates, Inc. a local civil engineering firm. In total, over 5,000 feet of old pipe will be replaced with new, modern water pipe.

Affected Streets
This year's project will result in new water mains installed within City streets including Wembley Park Rd., Mapleleaf Rd., Tree Top Lane, Westview Drive, Banyan Lane, Majorie Avenue, Parkhill Street and Virginia Rd. Please click here to view a map of the affected streets.
Current Status
On November 4, 2007, the City Council awarded a public improvement contract to NW Kodiak Construction. Construction is currently underway on Parkhill St. By mid January the contractor will mobilize and begin construction at Wembley Park Rd. Residents of Wembley Park Rd. can expect construction to last until the end of February.
Water service will be maintained throughout the project. Near the end of construction water service will be shut down temporarily to tie the new system to the existing. Periods of shut downs will be kept to a minimum. Residents will be notified of the shut downs the form of door hangers.
