About Lake Oswego

Located in the northwest corner of Clackamas County, Lake Oswego is ideally situated close to Oregon’s major metropolitan areas – just eight miles south of downtown Portland and 45 minutes north of the state capitol in Salem.

Lake Oswego is primarily a residential community with some commercial development and light manufacturing. Most business are located downtown near the Willamette River, which is the city’s eastern boundary, or along the west boundary near Interstate 5.

About the Fire Department

Lake Oswego Fire, Rescue and Life Safety operates with 50 exceptional career personnel. Lake Oswego Fire is a progressive organization providing excellent promotional opportunities while offering high quality service to the community. Currently there are 42 suppression personnel assigned to 24/48 hour shifts. This includes one Battalion Chief per shift. The Fire Prevention Division has a staff of three people. The remainder are administrative staff and support personnel.

The four fire stations house excellent apparatus. First out units are three engines and one 105’ ladder truck. Ancillary response units are a Brush Engine, Dive Rescue vehicle,  and a 21’ jet boat.

Annually the department responds to approximately 3000 calls for service, with approximately 80% of them being EMS related.
