Bathroom Fire at Lake Oswego High School

Lake Oswego firefighters were dispatch on a commercial fire alarm at 1:15 PM to the Lake Oswego High School this afternoon. Soon after the initial alarm, school officials called 9-1-1 and stated that there was a fire in the bathroom at the school. The alarm was upgraded immediately to summon more firefighter resources. The first fire engine arrived, they noticed smoke coming from the hallway and bathroom in the gym. Upon further investigation, the fire had been extinguished by school personnel but left soot and smoke throughout the hallway of the gym. When the initial fire alarm was activated, the school was evacuated and kids were let back into the main school building shortly after firefighters had arrived. Firefighters remained on scene for about one hour to assist in clearing the smoke out of the gym before turning the building back to the school district.

The fire caused at least $2,000 in damage to the bathroom and investigators have determined that this fire was human caused. No suspect or suspects have been identified and the case has been turned over to the Lake Oswego Police Department.
