Clackamas County Libraries Gets New Computer Catalogue
Our previous library catalogue software, which was almost 15 years old, was no longer being supported by the manufacturer. That’s why all the libraries in the county had no choice but to change over to a new catalogue system. Our new catalogue, Symphony, provides lots of fun features that you will enjoy, such as photos of book covers, best seller lists, and lots more. Check it out! Pictured above is our Library Director Bill Baars in the Library’s workroom, pitching in to help clear the enormous work backlog created by our “migration” from the old system to the new. |

Library Helps Everyone Beat the Heat!
Our Library was a very popular refuge during the recent heat wave. Plenty of folks came to hang out, attend programs, and they checked out tons of materials. Our children’s DVD’s flew out the door to an extent never witnessed before. Because we care about our loyal Library visitors, we provided cold water for everyone to drink as they entered the building.

Lake Oswego Youth are Super Readers!
We just got stats about Library check-outs for this past fiscal year, which ended as of June 30. Wow! Kids checked out 1.9% more items than they did during the previous fiscal year. Picture books, chapter books, nonfiction, audiobooks and DVD’s were the most popular. Teens borrowed 3% more, and graphic novels and audiobooks were the big ticket items. Speaking of young readers, greater numbers of kids are joining our summer reading program too. Pictured above is one of our super teen volunteers signing up a young club member.

Weekly Special Programs for Kids

July’s Performing Arts program featured the Chonchords Chorale Yours & Ours Trio, singing romantic ballads and classic standards. The Chorale is a Portland area community choir.
