Fourth Street Bulletin: December, Issue 1

Welcome to our Fourth Street Bulletin.  It will provide you with news and interesting tidbits about our award-winning Library, located at Fourth Street and D Avenue in Lake Oswego.

We hope you enjoy it!

Claire Kellogg

Spotlight on Claire Kellogg

“I love being a reference librarian because there’s so much variety in the job and I never know from day to day what new question I’ll be faced with.”  Claire began working at our Library in 1975.  “It was a different world in the library then; we used typewriters instead of computers.  The Internet revolutionized our world because we now can provide so much more information for people.”  Besides being a crackerjack reference librarian, Claire was instrumental in making our local history collection the fabulous resource that it is.  Check out the online portion of our collection at http://www.ci.oswego.or.us/library/special/History.htm.   Claire lives on ten acres in Beavercreek and she really loves flower and vegetable gardening.  She enjoys playing  the ukulele and is an amazingly talented quilt and fabric artist and knitter.  After over 34 years, Claire is retiring from library work.  She will be missed by so many.

Holiday Open House

Our warm and cozy holiday celebration featured the Stafford Singers.  Visitors also enjoyed cookies, coffee, and cocoa.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the lovely refuge from the freezing cold outside.  The event was sponsored by the Friends of the Library.   For information about upcoming programs go to http://www.ci.oswego.or.us/library/AdultCalendar.htm
