We’re Number One…Again!

According to the authoritative rating system for American public libraries (HAPLR), Lake Oswego Public Library is the best library in Oregon (in our population category) for the SEVENTH year in a row!    HAPLR ratings are based on 15 different measurements, including library collections, items checked out by the public, reference questions answered, and programs offered.  Our staff is bursting with pride about this impressive achievement.  Let’s hear it for Lake Oswego Public Library, we really rock!

Teens Create Cleaning Whirlwind

A group of 50 energetic Lake Oswego High School students recently cleaned our Library from top to bottom as part of a school community service project.  Did we ever appreciate their hard work!

Teens Publicize Upcoming Summer Reading Club

Every year, our Teen Advisory Board creates and acts out a hilarious script to promote our Teen Summer Reading club.  Tualatin Valley Cable TV generously donates staff time to videotape these public services announcements and they are aired on their station through the summer.  For information on upcoming teen programs go to

Art Reception

Did you know that the City Art Council recently rotated City art?  That means the works of art in our Library have changed!  We recently held a reception to celebrate our new art, but you are welcome to peruse our walls anytime we are open.

Take Your Child to Work Day

We offered entertainment for the kids, including storytelling with puppets, a “behind the scenes” Library tour, and a reception centered around the Children’s Library “Whimsical Flower Garden.”  Pictured above is local artist Julie Brown, who created that fabulous window well art display.
