Fourth Street Bulletin: April 2011
Welcome to our Fourth Street Bulletin. It will provide you with news and interesting tidbits about our award-winning Library, located at Fourth Street and D Avenue in Lake Oswego. We hope you enjoy it! |
Spring Cleaning at the Library
Fifty energetic students from Lake Oswego High School stampeded into our Library and cleaned everything that was not nailed down. The end-result of their three-hour stint was a clean Library, delighted staff, and happy patrons. The Community Work Day project at the Library was part of a student-initiated project designed to thank the community of Lake Oswego. The goal of Community Work Day is to provide businesses, community members and/or non-profit agencies an opportunity to enlist the help of high school students to work for them at no cost. |

Spotlight on Lois Sparks
We congratulate Technical Services Department staff member Lois Sparks on her FORTIETH anniversary of employment at the Library. When she started back in 1971, our Library looked very different than it does today. Lois is an absolute wiz at her job, which simply put, involves entering information about thousands of items into our computer catalogue. We could not imagine the Library functioning without her! In her spare time, Lois enjoys reading, crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles. She also loves animals, such as the squirrel pictured above. |
By Popular Demand…
We now shelve our DVDs that are TV series in their own section, apart from feature film DVDs. This enormous and complex project involved separating approximately 4,200 TV series DVDs from a collection which totals over 10,500. Mission accomplished! Look for the bright orange labels in our new TV series DVD collection. |
