Edward Christian Wolf at the Library

Edward Christian Wolf is co-author of the book Worldchanging: a Users Guide for the 21st  Century. Worldchanging is a groundbreaking compendium of the most innovative solutions, ideas and inventions emerging today for building a sustainable, livable, prosperous future. Mr. Wolf will be joined by several people involved in the Portland Worldchanging Web presence to talk about local projects.

 

Edward Christian Wolf is a writer with a special interest in the natural history of global change. His books on people and nature in the Pacific Northwest include Klamath Heartlands, Salmon Nation and A Tidewater Place. A co-author of recent studies of the economic impacts of climate change in Oregon and Washington, Mr. Wolf’s essays on bioregionalism and local climate forecasting appear in the "Planet" section of
Worldchanging: A User’s Guide for the Twenty-First Century .

From 1995 through 2001, Mr. Wolf was the director of communications for Ecotrust in Portland, Oregon where his responsibilities included the creation of publications and
management of Web communications including the 1997 launch of the on-line environmental news portal www.tidepool.org. Mr. Wolf has previously worked as a senior researcher with the Worldwatch Institute, a curriculum development specialist for the “Race to Save the Planet” documentary series produced by WGBH-TV, a staff
writer for Conservation International, and a consultant to the U.S. Agency for International Development. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and environmental studies from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, and a master’s degree in natural ecosystem management from the College of Forest Resources at the University of Washington in Seattle.
