Welcome to our Fourth Street Bulletin. It will provide you with news and interesting tidbits about our award-winning Library, located at Fourth Street and D Avenue in Lake Oswego. We hope you enjoy it!

May is Sustainability Action Month

Public libraries truly embody the values of sustainability.  We share a multitude of resources with thousands in the community, including YOU. 

Here’s how we are celebrating Sustainability Action Month at the Library: 

  • Sustainability book displays in the children’s room and on the second floor.
  • Slide show near second floor book display about sustainability practices at your Library.
  • “Create a Flower Card” craft programs for preschoolers on Tuesday, May 8 or Wednesday May 9 at 11:00 a.m. (Sign up by calling 503-697-6580.)
  • “Create a Bookmark” craft for adults on Wednesday, May 9th at 6:00-7:30 p.m. presented by Trash for Peace.  (No sign up necessary.)
  • Author talk by bicyclist Joe Kurmaskie (see below) on Wednesday, May 15th at 7:00 p.m.
  • Environmental book group meets every fourth Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.  For more information call 503-534-5665.

May Concert
The Library’s own John Ferrel, along with Cal Scott, performed a mix of original songs, playing acoustic guitars and mandolin.  Our concerts take place on the
first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.


Henrik Bothe

Performing Arts
Wednesday, May 9 at 1:00 p.m.
Henrik Bothe performs physical comedy and acrobatics.  Our performing arts series is on the second Wednesday of the month.


Joe Kurmaske

Author Talk
Tuesday, May 15 at 7:00 p.m.
We’re celebrating Sustainability Action Month with local author Joe Kurmaskie.  Dubbed the “metal cowboy,” Kurmaskie is a devoted bicycler and best-selling author.  Our author talks are on third Tuesdays of the month.

Learn about how the LO Public Works Department works 24/7 to keep YOU safe.  View their Library display from May 6 through May 26.

Writing Group for Teens

Teen writers ages 13-17 are invited to experience the art and craft of creative writing with Corey Stixrud of Young Willamette Writers.

Musical Laptime for Babies
Fridays at 10:30 a.m.
For babies from birth through eighteen months.  Colette Fallon is our teacher for our spring series.


Penny's puppet productions

Puppet Show
Saturday, May 12 at 11:00 a.m.
Penny’s Puppet Productions presents “Jubilation Celebration.”  Our special events for kids are on the second Saturday of the month.
