 Internet Search Tips:

Advanced Google Search
Search one site (like http://www.un.org )
or limit your results to a domain like .edu, .org or .gov
You can also do advanced Google searches on the main Google search screen.
The search: "human rights" "afghanistan" filetype:pdf site:.gov
will find government papers in PDF format about human rights in Afghanistan, for example.

Google News
Search for the latest news on different countries and issues.

Google Alerts
Monitor the Web for interesting new content
Google Alerts are email updates of the latest relevant Google results (web, news, etc.) based on your queries.

Enter a search query you wish to monitor. You will see a preview of the type of results you'll receive. Some handy uses of Google Alerts include:

• monitoring a developing news story
• Finding timely information about a country or issue
• keeping current on a competitor or industry
• getting the latest on a celebrity or event
• keeping tabs on your favorite sports teams
(From Google)

You can also copy and paste advanced searches into a Google Alert!
