The library offers a network of personal computers (PCs) with Windows for public use. Library patrons have full graphical access to our library catalog, the Internet, a wide selection of databases, software for children, word processing,
desktop publishing, and color scanning.
Internet Computers
The library provides access to the Internet through twelve personal computers (PCs) in the reference area, which offer the choice of filtered or
unfiltered access, and three personal computers in the Children's Library which
are filtered. Users need to
stop by the reference desk to "clock-in" for an Internet station. Please see our Internet use policy.
Word Processors
The reference department has two personal computers with Office 2000 for word processing and
spreadsheets with a black and white printer. One is also equipped with desktop publishing
software and a color scanner. Library patrons may use the computers for one hour
at a time and should call in advance to reserve time.
Database PCs
The reference department maintains 18 databases on five PCs. The databases offer a wide range of information, including
full text magazine and newspaper articles.
