L.O. Reads 2013: Hear the Author Naomi Benaron

NOTE:  TICKETS ARE REQUIRED.  HOWEVER, GUESTS WITHOUT TICKETS WILL BE ABLE TO ENTER THE AUDITORIUM AT 6:45 PM IF THERE ARE SEATS AVAILABLE.  EVERY YEAR THERE HAVE BEEN SEATS AVAILABLE AT SHOW TIME.

Naomi Benaron introduces her background, how she came to writing and specifically how she came to writing about Rwanda. As the 2012 Bellwether Prize award recipient, she will also address what winning the prize has meant to her, as well as why it is so important a prize. She will delve into the history and politics of Rwanda, and the ties that make it important to Western Society. She will address how science and athletics weave their way into the book and how they are metaphors for the politics and history of Rwanda.  Admission is free but a ticket is required.  Tickets will be available at the Lake Oswego Library starting at 11 am on Saturday, January 19.  Arrive early.  There will be a two ticket per person limit and a LOPL Library card is required.
