What is PCUN? - 2/19

Tuesday, February 19, 2019 - 7:00pm

Enrique Ruiz will discuss the history of Pineros y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste (PCUN), and its impact on the Latinx community. From its beginnings as a labor union for farm workers in the 80s, PCUN has since then evolved far beyond, changing Oregon’s political landscape. A focus on PCUN’s electoral program, Acción Política PCUNista - what the program consists of, it’s impact and vision. A.P.P. has accomplished monumental feats, such as helping elect Oregon’s first immigrant Latina to the state legislature, helping elect Oregon’s first Latinx-majority school board and helping pass school bonds equaling to $700,000,000.
