Mission Statement: "To provide for
the health, safety, and welfare of the community through the protection,
preservation, and conservation of fragile and finite environmental resources
and management of City infrastructure."
| Services
Provided |
| Drainage
Maintenance: Clean and shape drainage ditches and swales
within City right-of-ways on an as-needed basis. Clean and maintain storm
water facilities, catch basins, and inlet structures within City
right-of-ways. Mow City ditches, right-of-ways, and detention ponds
as needed. Inspect, maintain, and repair the City storm drain
system. |
Street
Sweeping: Sweeping of improved City streets and property
is performed six times a year, unimproved streets twice a year. Streets
with heavy leaf litter are swept more frequently during the fall. Sweeping
due to spills, unreported accidents, and special events is done on an
as-needed basis.
|
| Public
Awareness: To minimize debris in the catch basins and the
chance of flooding, the Stormwater Utility works with volunteer groups
to inform residents of how to reduce pollutant loading into creeks, lake,
and rivers. Dump No Waste -- Drains To Stream is stenciled
on storm drain curb inlets to help educate the public so they know an
inlet drains to a waterway. Volunteers are welcome to identify
neighborhoods where they wish to stencil the catch basins. The Stormwater
Department will supply materials and training. |
