ABOUT ASAP

What is ASAP?

All Junior High Students (7th & 8th grades) in Lake Oswego now have something to do after school!  It’s ASAP! – The After School Activity Program.  Pre-registration is required and the cost is only $25 per school year (scholarships are available for Lake Oswego residents; call 502-635-0280). To register, please visit: www.lakeoswegoparks.org, drop off a form at Parks & Recreation in the West End Building, or call 503-675-2549 (choose class #4285210).  Please note: The ASAP Permission Form is required to attend this program.  Click Here to download the Permission form.  ASAP allows youth to explore and develop new interests while connecting with fellow students.  The participants are actively involved in creating, planning, and participating in a variety of fun, social and diverse recreational experiences.  A small snack is provided daily and activities range from Air Hockey, Pool, Foosball, Skeeball, homework help, craft projects, sports competitions, parties, service clubs and more! ASAP is hosted at the McKenzie Lounge for Teens in the West End Building (WEB), 4101 Kruse Way, from 3 to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.  ASAP will open at 2 p.m. on Monday Early Release Days. 

Transportation to the WEB from Lake Oswego Junior High School is provided via Bus #18: Ride Bus #18 to the corner of Carman Driva and Daniel Way. The ASAP mini-bus will be waiting for you to transport you from the the School Bus stop to the West End Building.

Transportation to the WEB from Waluga Junior High School is provided via the ASAP mini-bus at no additional charge.   

No-School Days:  ASAP will open at 3 p.m. on scheduled in-service days, teacher planning days, and school conferences; transportation is not provided on these days.

Early Dismissals: ASAP will be open when school is dismissed; transportation is provided via Bus #18 (Lake Oswego Jr. High) or the Parks & Recreation mini-bus (Waluga Jr. High) at dismissal time.

Holidays/Breaks: ASAP will be closed on holidays, unless otherwise specified.  Watch for information regarding our Winter/Spring/Summer break hours!

Inclement Weather: ASAP will be closed in the event of a school closure due to inclement weather. 

Students are responsible for checking themselves in and out of the activities.  Once participants sign out, they are not allowed to return for the day.  To download the ASAP permission slip, please go to www.ci.oswego.or.us/parksrec/forms.htm

Friday ASAP Field Trips Twice a month on Fridays, ASAP will have a field trip scheduled.  It may be laser tag, paintball, bowling, or other activity.  These field trips are optional and there is an additional charge depending on what the activity is.  Pre-registration is required for the trips.  Additional information can be found at www.lakeoswegoparks.org 

Who is in Charge? Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation Department coordinates and administers ASAP in collaboration with the Lake Oswego Asset Builders Coalition and the Lake Oswego School District. When Does ASAP Begin? For the 2009-2010 school year, ASAP begins with the Free Open House that runs from September 8 to September 30, 2009.  (However, students who want to ride to ASAP from Waluga Junior High on the Parks & Rec mini-bus must register first.) Transportation to ASAP from Waluga Junior High will be provided as of September 8, 2008 to all registered students. Online registration is easy, just visit www.lakeoswegoparks.org.  

What is the Cost? For ASAP, the cost is $25 per school year for Lake Oswego residents; $27 all others.  Scholarships are available for Lake Oswego residents; call 503-635-0282.

For Friday Night ASAP Field Trips: Price varies depending on the cost of the field trip.  You must pre-register for each field trip.

ASAP Guitar Club, Wednesdays, 3:30-5 pm. Guitar Club is free to all ASAP members. It is hosted by musician Tristan Ellingsworth, who has played for Java Jam, Battle of the Bands, and is currently recording a self-titled album. Students are required to bring their own guitars.

ASAP Craft Club, Thursdays, 3:30-5 pm. Be a part of the Urban Craft Revolution. Learn to "upcycle" household items into craft masterpieces, dabble in unusual art techniques and free your inner renegade crafter! Craft club is free every Thursday to all ASAP participants.

ASAP Board Club, Mondays, 3pm-5pm. Join Lake Oswego Skate Park Coordinator Dave Arpin for monthly field trips to surrounding skate parks, learn new tricks, and make your own skateboard! Wave boards provided on site; please bring your own skateboard and helmet on field trip days.
