The Children's Garden at Luscher Farm Park was started in 2002 through a national youth grant award. The garden is a space to foster the growth of not only plants, but children as well.
This "outdoor classroom" is used by garden clubs, 4-H groups, camps, school groups and volunteers.
The Children's Garden offers a variety of different programs intended to excite and educate youth and introduce them to the wonders of organic gardening and local sustainable agriculture. The youth gardening programs are evolving and expanding, thanks to increasing demand and the support of generous donors like the Oswego Garden Club.
Please visit anytime; the Garden is open to the public.
New Children's Garden Coordinator
Colleen Lockovitch
Begins January, 2010
Colleen Lockovitch has accepted the position of Children’s Garden Coordinator at Luscher Farm. She is passionate about sharing urban and sustainable horticulture through education and hands-on experiences, so Lake Oswego’s Luscher Farm is the perfect place for her.
Colleen has been busy since she earned her degree in public horticulture from Purdue University in 1998. She has studied and worked in Denmark, in the United Kingdom (including stints at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew and in Edinburgh), as well as both the eastern and midwestern United States. She has coordinated and curated many public display gardens, has appeared on numerous television programs, has taught classes on plants and gardening techniques, and led garden related presentations in both the US and the UK. Colleen is happy to begin a new chapter in Portland along with her husband and two dogs.
The 2010 Winter/Spring catalog will be available delivered to Lake Oswego homes on December 12, 2009. Check it out to see the wonderful kids' programs Colleen has planned!
