General Information

Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation operates one of the most active parks and recreation programs in the Portland metropolitan area. Among the parks and recreation facilities managed by the department are over 600 acres of developed park property, undeveloped and passive park lands, natural parks and open spaces, including 45 acres of recreation facilities: an Adult Community Center, Indoor Tennis Center, outdoor swim park, an 18-hole Golf Course and driving range, and the Water Sports Center on the Willamette River.

Millennium Plaza Park is one of the most popular parks in the heart of Lake Oswego and  is host to movies, concerts, car shows, art exhibits and joyous memories. Look for events including Saturday Farmers' Market that runs mid May through mid October. Friday afternoon and Sunday evening concerts run July through August. Movies in the Park runs July through August.

Donations and Memorial Dedications

Our dedication process offers a unique way to remember past friends, family and community members. Click Here to view/print an information packet.

Parks & Recreation will work with groups or individuals to help customize requests that fit within the guidelines of the donation program. Items typically donated by means of a cash contribution include park benches, water fountains, picnic tables, landscaped areas, tree groves, and park signs. Contributions are by no means limited to these items and donors are encouraged to share their ideas, but need to ensure the aesthetic and functional integrity of the park system.

General guidelines apply for individuals, groups, and organizations wishing to make a donation. Cash donations, materials, land or equipment donations, donations of personal time, and dedications are included. Please call 503-675-2548 for more information.

Parks Maintenance

Parks Maintenance provides maintenance for the Cityís park system athletic fields, Indoor Tennis Center, Adult Community Center, and Golf Course, as well as a city beautification program. Parks Maintenance offices are located at the City's Maintenance Center, 5705 Jean Road. The phone number is 503-635-0280.

Parks Maintenance maintains over 600 acres of Parks property at 35 different sites, as well as a number of neighborhood community parks and designated natural areas.

Parks Maintenance personnel also provides city beautification for many areas such as City street rights-of-way at numerous locations around town. Maintenance levels vary according to season and facility and include restroom cleaning, litter removal, irrigation operation and repair, mowing, playground inspection and repair, weed control, fertilization, pruning, painting and tree/shrub maintenance.

The athletic field program provides maintenance for 13 athletic field sites totaling 40 acres of both City and School District property. Supporting maintenance varies with the intensity of  use at these sites and includes mowing, aeration, irrigation, fertilization, weed control, infield maintenance, back stop repair, goal maintenance, fence maintenance, top dressing and turf repair. This is done, in part, to facilitate both city, school and community-sponsored sports programs.

The Lake Oswego Golf Course is maintained year-round, with more intensive maintenance required for the period of March through November. During the season, greens are mowed daily, green aprons every other day, tees three times weekly, and fairways twice a week. Rough trimming of the course and driving range are done weekly.

Other facilities maintained by Parks Maintenance include the four-court Indoor Tennis Center and the 11,400 square foot Adult Community Center.
