Hoe Down
Saturday, February 20, 5-8pm
West End Building
4101 Kruse Way
In the spirit of the Lake Oswego’s Centennial Celebration and Lake Oswego Reads, we turn back the clock for a good a good old fashioned “barn dance.” Well, it’s not exactly in a barn, but we can promise a delightfully refreshing change of pace for folks who want to celebrate the past and who can still kick up their heels.
Learn to square dance with Portland Old Time Music. Professional callers are on hand to teach the basics and a few fancy turns too. Enjoy the excitement of dancing Virginia Reels, waltzes and even jigs! The Oregon Old Time Fiddlers will also be on hand to entertain.
Test your strength with a ride on the mechanical bull! Discover the art of the apple press and taste home-made apple cider. Dazzle your taste buds with food from Pizza Schmizza. Bring the whole family for a walk back in time!
For information, contact Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation, 503-675-2549.

Student Art on Exhibit
Through April 30, 2010
West End Building
4101 Kruse Way
In connection with Lake Oswego’s Centennial and Lake Oswego Reads, the Lake Oswego School District’s Art Literacy program presents “Eyes of the Future Look at the Past.” Elementary school students studied some of the great artists of the early 20th century, then brought them to life by creating their own art, inspired by "the greats." The walls of the West End Building are covered with the children’s art works for exhibit during business hours and evenings during on-site events. Please stop by to see the children's wonderful works!
Hallinan School students followed Henri Matisse's Paper collages (see picture at right) |

Student Art on Exhibit

Rivergrove School students were inspired by Grandma Moses' Landscapes. Their art works are part of this exhibit.
Uplands School students studied Wire sculptures by Alexander Calder. Their artworks are also included in the Exhibit at the WEB.
