Eastman House, Circa 1933

Location: 1905 Palisades Terr.

aka "Sandhill"

This English Cottage style house was designed by prominent local architect Richard Sundeleaf.  It is one of the finest examples of the English Cottage style as well as one of Sundeleaf’s most interesting residential designs in the city.  Aside from the strong reference to the English vernacular design vocabulary, the house has a series of handsome carved wood panels, which Sundeleaf integrated into a number of his residential designs.  Throughout the house are a myriad of intricate and finely crafted details, such as the prominent gabled entrance with segmentally arched opening, bowed full-height turret, and recessed arcade.
