NeighborWoods is an Urban and Community Forestry project promoting the health, diversity and preservation of the Urban Forest. Established in 2008, the program is a partnership between the City of Lake Oswego and its’ residents to promote stewardship and tree care in residential neighborhoods. Through the program, the City provides free tree workshops, tree care and planting information, and works with neighborhoods on local restoration efforts.
In the first year, the Community Forestry Program was able to provide residents with a 4-part NeighborWoods Tree Workshop Series, completely free and open to the public. Classes covered Tree Biology, Tree Pruning, Native Landscaping and the City’s Tree Code.
If you have an idea for a project in your neighborhood that promotes tree stewardship and engages local residents, please contact the Urban and Community Forestry Coordinator at trees@ci.oswego.or.us or 503-675-2543.
