Boards, Commissions and Task Forces

 

 

Affordable Housing Task Force
This 13 member task force was appointed by City Council in April 2004 to provide advice and recommendations relating to City policies and programs to assure compliance with Affordable Housing component contained in Title 7 of the Metro Urban Growth Management Functional Plan.

Community Forestry Commission
The Community Forestry Commission is a five-member citizen advisory body appointed by the City Council.  It meets as needed to consider requests for hearings and appeals of Type II Tree Cutting applications.

Development Review Commission
The Development Review Commission is a seven-member citizen advisory body appointed by the City Council. It meets on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. to review development applications for compliance with the City’s land use and design regulations, based on criteria outlined in the City's Comprehensive Plan and Community Development Code.

Historic Resources Advisory Board
The Historic Resources Advisory Board is an eight-member (including one youth member) citizen advisory body appointed by the City Council. It meets the second Wednesday of each month to promote and foster the historic, educational, architectural, cultural, economic, and general welfare of the public through the identification, preservation, restoration, and protection of those structures, sites, objects, and districts of historic and cultural interest within the city.

Natural Resources Advisory Board
The Natural Resources Advisory Board is an eight-member (one youth member) citizen advisory body appointed by the City Council. It meets on the first Monday of each month to promote preservation of the City's natural resources.

Planning Commission and Commission for Citizen Involvement
The Planning Commission is a seven-member citizen advisory body appointed by the City Council. It meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. to review long range planning issues, neighborhood planning, and amendments to the Comprehensive Plan and implementing ordinances. The Planning Commission focuses on land use policy issues and makes recommendations to the City Council on such issues, based on criteria outlined in the City's Comprehensive Plan and Community Development Code.

Sensitive Lands - Second Look Task Force

In response to community questions and concerns about the Sensitive Lands program, the Planning Department has established a nine-member Second Look Task Force to review the Sensitive Lands chapter of the Community Development Code in the context of its environmental and regulatory purposes, and provide recommendations to the Department.

Sustainability Advisory Board

The Sustainability Advisory Board is a citizen advisory body appointed by the City Council consisting of nine regular members appointed for three-year terms, plus two members less than 18 years old at the time of appointment who shall be appointed for one-year terms which may be renewed for one additional year. The mission of the Sustainability Advisory Board shall be to promote the sustainability of the community as a whole, considering public and private actors and their effects on ecological, economic, and community systems.

Water Quality Task Force
The City is embarking on a planning process to update standards to protect and improve water quality in Lake Oswego. The updated standards will work in conjunction with the City’s Sensitive Lands Overlay and are required for compliance with Title 3 of Metro’s Urban Growth Management Functional Plan. The water quality component of Title 3 is intended to protect and improve water quality and to protect the functions and values of identified Water Quality Resource Areas.
