Assistant Football Coach Punches Player During Practice

LAKE OSWEGO – On August 20, 2013, at about 7:36pm, during the high school football practice, Assistant Football Coach Michael Cole (DOB: 11-7-84) ran up to and allegedly assaulted a 17 year old player, causing minor injuries to the boy.

The incident occurred following a play, when the victim was scuffling with another player. As other players were separating the victim and the other player, Mr. Cole ran over to them and allegedly punched the victim in the face. The team’s Defensive Coordinator then ran over and pulled Mr. Cole off of the victim. Mr. Cole was then asked to leave the field, which he did without further incident. The injuries sustained by the victim did not require medical attention.

The incident was reported to Lake Oswego Police and officers responded to the High School. After interviewing witnesses, the victim and the suspect, Mr. Cole was arrested for Assault 4 and Disorderly Conduct 2 and was lodged at the Clackamas County Jail. The case will be handled by the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office and additional charges could be filed later.
