LAKE OSWEGO - The Lake Oswego Police Department was awarded an overtime grant to enforce speeds in school zones. The primary focus of this program is to raise the awareness of pedestrian safety issues in school zones related to speed and to reduce the number crashes between vehicles and pedestrians within the city of Lake Oswego.
The fourth enforcement event of this grant will take place on Thursday, March 17, 2016, from 7:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., on Country Club Road in the posted school zone adjacent to the Lake Oswego Junior High School and Lake Oswego High School. This area is marked by flashing yellow lights and signage indicating that fines are enhanced in the school zone.
Motorists are reminded that failure to obey posted school zone speed limits is a violation of ORS 811.111 and may result in a citation with an enhanced fine of $320.
Additional school zone speed enforcement grant events will occur at later dates in other school zones in the city of Lake Oswego.
