A quick update as we head into the summer months.
Lake Oswego has many events upcoming and the Police Department will be involved in many of them. The Farmer’s Market is the signature event and the kickoff on May 18th points toward another successful season. The Police Department has developed a great partnership with the Market’s Manager, Jamie Inglis from the Parks and Recreation department. Our plan is to be there each Saturday to support the Market and to introduce officers to the community. Each Saturday, watch for bright smiles, LOPD stickers for the kids, and an occasional Police K9. We find this is a great venue to meet and greet those we serve! June will also host the Festival of the arts on the 22nd, 23, and 24th. Since this three day event can present challenges for the local community, this year we have worked closely with the Old Town Neighborhood to formulate a parking plan that will meet their needs. You may see some special parking permits to accommodate specific needs; our goal to make this event enjoyable for all.
Finally, in August we will again partner with all City Departments to host the Emergency Preparedness Fair at Westlake Park on August 14th, from 5 until 9. Not only can you enjoy the concert, but you can introduce yourselves to the Police, Fire and Public Works professionals that meet your needs every day. There will be activities for the kids and some great information to keep you prepared, along with great music and dance. Don’t miss this opportunity and I’ll see you August 14th, 5:00 pm at Westlake Park.
