Join the City of Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation Department for Norman Sylvester live at the Moonlight & Music Concerts. The concert takes place on Sunday, August 28, from 6-7:30pm at Millennium Plaza Park. All concerts are free and family friendly.
The Norman Sylvester Band is one of the main ingredients in Northwest music’s "Soul Stew". The Band was started in 1987 and performed at the first Waterfront Blues Festival that year. Two weeks later, Norman was the opening act for BB King at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. Since then the band has shared the stage with James Cotton, Tower of Power, Buddy Guy, The Five Blind Boys of Alabama, Peter Frampton and many more. Norman has performed with the Oregon Symphony and with James DePriest, opening for the Oregon Symphony's fall season in 2000. The band has been nominated for best R&B group the past 10 years by the Cascade Blues Association and has three CDs of original material being sold in the US and overseas.
Norman is very active in and dedicated to the community. He works with local schools and with Ethos Inc., a non-profit community outreach organization teaching music history, lyric writing, and performance skills to children in the Portland area. The Norman Sylvester Band is in high demand at night club venues, festivals, corporate events, wedding receptions and private parties. Norman's mission is to keep the party rocking, the fans smiling, and creating memories that will last forever.
It ain't nothing but a party when the Boogie Cat is in the House. The band is currently in the studio working on new original material, “Songs in the Key of Soul".
