Three days left to enter the super cute coloring and name the sweeper contests

Posted Fri, 03/08/2013 - 11:12am

Our street sweepers are going to love their new names.  Lake Oswegans have entered names with tag lines, from their favorite movie, and have found creative ways to talk about street sweeper services in a name.

We also have a coloring contest open to youth Pre-K through 5th grade.  We love the creativity and colors that kids are putting into the images.  We hope to get many more coloring pages before the contests close.  Judging begins next week.  On Monday and Tuesday we will be picking up all the entries from drop off spots, so please have kids color away and submit an entry.

Here are details:

The City of Lake Oswego has a new Street Sweeper and it and our two other sweepers need a name. Street sweepers in Lake Oswego do an important job and work hard. Last fiscal year, the three street sweepers swept more than 6,400 miles of road (that is farther than to New York City and back), collecting enough debris to fill almost 16,000 40-gallon lawn trash bags. Through our stormwater program streets are cleaned in order to keep debris and pollutants out of our creeks rivers and streams as well as Oswego Lake.

Pick up and drop off the Name the Sweeper Contest Coloring Sheet at the below locations:
• Lake Oswego City Hall 1st floor lobby (Public Affairs or Citizen Information Center) - 380 A Ave
• The Lake Oswego Library, Children's Room, lower level- 706 4th Street
• West End Building - 4101 Kruse Way
• Operations – 5705 Jean Road

Please give our important new vehicle a name and through the coloring contest show its personality.  For contest details go to:
