The Unsung Heroes Award was created by the City Council in 2001 to recognize individuals who contribute to the quality of life in our community without reward or recognition.
Nominate an Unsung Hero
The deadline to nominate an Unsung Hero is Friday, November 13. Take a few minutes to nominate that special person who has made a positive difference in our community-someone who spends his or her free time volunteering, helping neighbors, or trying to make a difference in the lives of those around them.
The nomination process is simple. Write a brief, compelling story about your hero. Tell something that distinguishes them as an individual or team. Then highlight how the nominee’s actions benefit the lives of others and the local community.
Awards will be presented at a City Council meeting in early December. Applications are available below or at City Hall, Citizen Information Center.
For additional information or questions, contact Diana Smith-Bouwer at 503-635-0257.
All nominations are reviewed by a committee of six judges. All judges are or have been actively involved in the community (past recipients of the award, past committee members, citizens serving on various Boards and Commissions, and neighborhood folks.
On behalf of the Council and the community, we say “thank you” to all of our Unsung Heroes who make the Lake Oswego community a better place to live, work and play.
