In 2007, the City of Lake Oswego was awarded a grant from Metro to study the feasibility of establishing a carsharing program in downtown Lake Oswego. To determine the level of interest in this program, the City is surveyed residents and businesses located within 1/4 mile of the potential locations for carsharing vehicles. Among survey resopondents, there was a significant level of interest in joining a carsharing program, both in the next two years and the next ten years. Residential respondents were most interested in using the vehicles for personal errands and recreational day trips, and the vehicle type preferred by most respondents was a hybrid. Of the four potential locations for carsharing vehicles, City Hall and the Public Library ranked highest, with the Trolley Parking Area and State and Wilber sharing the third choice ranking. What is Carsharing?
