PARKS, RECREATION & NATURAL RESOURCES ADVISORY BOARD <br />MINUTES <br />October 18, 2017 <br />Co -Chair Scott Bullard called the meeting to order at 4:00p.m. at Palisades. <br />Present: Co -Chair Scott Bullard, Co -Chair Bill Gordon, James Stupfel, Charles Aubin, Tom <br />Widden, Heidi Schrimsher, Kimberlie Peeler, Brittany Weiler, Sabrina Safari, Youth <br />Member, Skip O'Neill, Council Liaison, Brian Gullen, Alternate <br />Absent: Mark Hoyt, <br />Staff: Ivan Anderholm, Director of Parks & Recreation, Jan Wirtz, Superintendent of Parks <br />& Recreation, Bruce Powers, Parks Analyst/Project Manager, Jeff Munro, <br />Park/Natural Area/Golf Maintenance Superintendent, Megan Big John, Natural <br />Areas & Athletic Fields Crew Leader and Dina Balogh, Parks & Recreation <br />Administrative Assistant <br />Guests: Ronald Taylor, Bob Alton and Barbara Brunkow, PT 658 Heritage Organization. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />The Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Advisory Board (PARKS Board) reviewed and unanimously <br />approved the minutes from September 20, 2017. <br />Citizen Comment: None <br />CITY COUNCIL UPDATE: <br />• City Council Presentation from the Boutique Hotel and Apartment Developer and Architect. <br />Many of the features of the conceptual design respond well to community feedback and LORA's <br />goals for the project. The hotel includes meeting rooms, event space and restaurants. Will have <br />agreement soon. <br />• City Council took a vote to hire an outside contractor to manage a four year pavement <br />maintenance project. The City lacks sufficient internal resources to keep up with the program. <br />The contractor will help to push along goal to improve the overall quality and condition of the <br />Cities roadway system. Road pavement rehabilitation projects will start Summer 2018 through <br />2021. <br />Met with the school district to discuss a partnership with the District in the operation of a <br />swimming pool/aquatic center. The Council will be discussing the policy and direction on this <br />issue at a future study session. <br />REGULAR BUSINESS <br />PT Boat at Foothills Presentation: <br />Ron Taylor/Bob Alton <br />The PT - 658 organizations mission is to operate and display PT 658 in the Pacific Northwest as a living <br />memorial to the thousands of US sailors who manned these tine mahogany warships. The PT -658 is the <br />only running PT boat in the world. It has been restored to as -built condition by veterans and volunteers <br />
