I plan on attending the April 22nd meeting and speaking briefly, but I wanted to <br />give you my thoughts in advance as well. <br />It appears that you are leaning towards recommending that ADU's not be permitted for short term rentals. Under <br />ADU description, it states, 'an ADU is a small housing unit constructed on single family lot.' I have an original <br />cottage, from 1892, on my property and since we purchased the property in 2010, I have always considered <br />it part of our home, not an accessory dwelling. Our garage is detached; I consider that part of my home. The <br />cottage has been used for short term rentals (prior to the last few years) as well as for family and friends on a <br />fairly consistent split. I would not rent it out on a long term basis, due to the fact that we use it ourselves. <br />I am in favor of a 'primary residence' regulation and that should include cottages already on property. <br />The additional income that short term rentals generates for us has allowed us to offset property taxes and <br />college tuition costs.
