<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />PARKS, RECREATION & NATURAL RESOURCES ADVISORY <br />BOARD <br />MINUTES <br />May 15, 2019 <br /> <br />Co-Chair Bill Gordon called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m., at Maintenance Center. <br /> <br />Present: Co-Chair Bill Gordon, Co-Chair Scott Bullard, Amy Waterbury, Heidi Schrimsher, Tom <br />Widden, Mark Silen, Alternate, Youth Member Cameron Iizuka (arrived at 5pm), <br />Absent: Natalie Bennon, Doug McKean, Brian Gullen, Brittany Weiler, Youth Member <br />Mariana Wahab, and Daniel Nguyen, Council Liaison <br />Staff: Ivan Anderholm, Director of Parks & Recreation; Jan Wirtz, Recreation <br />Superintendent; Bruce Powers, Parks Analyst/Parks Planner; Dina Balogh, Parks & <br />Recreation Administrative Assistant; Maria Bigelow, Adult Community Program <br />Supervisor; Tom Mueller, Golf Course Manager; Erica Rooney, City Engineer. <br />Guests: NA <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />The Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Advisory Board (PARKS Board) reviewed and unanimously <br />approved the minutes from April 17, 2019. <br /> <br />Citizen Comment: N/A <br /> <br />YOUTH MEMBER UPDATE: <br />Cameron Iizuka, Youth Members – <br /> ASB Elections: Cameron won the position of Assembly’s Director. <br /> Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Next year students and community members will meet to discuss <br />race in the community. <br /> Lake Oswego boys and girls Lacrosse, Golf and Tennis teams going to State tournaments. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL UPDATE: N/A <br /> <br />REGULAR BUSINESS: <br />Adult Community Center Remodel and Programs: <br />Maria Bigelow, Adult Community Center Program Supervisor - <br />Lake Oswego Classes offered at Adult Community Center Stats: 369 in 2016, 397 in 2017 (an increase of <br />9%), 528 in 2018 (an increase of 43%). Along with the increase of classes offered at the ACC, phone calls <br />to the front desk continue to increase. <br />The Living Well Talk Series is the winner of the Excellence in Health & Wellness Award from the National <br />Council on Aging. This series was created with the purpose of bringing fresh, innovative and <br />enlightening topics to empower others to live life on their own terms. Our participants benefited from <br />having ‘after hours’ programming that also put a spotlight on the great services our Center provides. <br />Some of the topics have included: <br /> Online Dating for Rookies <br /> Don't Just Retire...RE-FIRE! <br /> Marijuana as Medicine with Nectar Dispensary
