Please provide any additions or corrections within a reasonable period of time.  CH reviewed competition pool design on 100% Schematic Design drawings  CH acknowledged feedback received on prioritizing North/South over 100% SD E/W layout and showed updated plans with north‐south lanes o David Spurr ‐ much prefer north‐south layout as a lap swimmer  Solid lines prevent visual confusion about when to flip at wall o Troy Tetsuka – sees issues and concern with prioritizing the layout that only occurs 10‐15% of actual time use (east‐west layout as shown in 100% SD drawings), likes the new layout with north‐south lanes  Alleviates pressure of moving flags/bulkhead/blocks/etc on a regular basis o Stacey Dennett ‐ can't do 50M, so this layout maximizes lane space for all swimmers without moving bulkhead  Would be one of few pools in the area capable of holding an eight‐lane meet o ACTION ITEM: CH to explore north‐south lane orientation as primary course layout. Bulkhead positions will be located to maximize flexibility of course designs in north‐south orientation while still allowing for east‐west cross‐course layout.  Stacey ‐ Concerns about spectators at south end ‐ awkward and suboptimal, would like to see spectator seating perpendicular to north‐south lanes o CH proposed use of tip‐and‐roll bleachers to be located on west deck of natatorium when pool is operating north‐south, and can be moved to south deck of natatorium during competition water polo or east‐west club meets  Stacy agrees with idea of portable bleacher solution primarily on west side, but could be moved to south during water polo season, etc o Stacey ‐ "we use all the deck space we can get that isn't used for storage"  Troy ‐ would it be a concern to have bleachers on west side behind starting blocks? Page 2  CH acknowledges USA Swimming Safesport guidelines, notes portable bleachers would need to be moved to south whenever starting blocks are located on west side for swimmer safety o Ken Ballard ‐ recommend having double doors on southwest corner of building to temporarily move out tip/roll bleachers to claim deck space, or to bring in additional temporary seating o Chris Coleman ‐ with how nice of a facility this will be, does expandable bleacher seating make more sense for aesthetics?  Wants to see at least one set of high‐quality grandstands o Tony ‐ Does 300 seats still meet need for north‐south swimming?  CH recommends 300‐seat capacity for spectators, regardless of west or south bleacher location  Stacey agrees with count for revenue generation, especially for regional meets  Can see potential meets (especially Districts or larger regional meets) where spectator capacity easily exceeds 300  Ivan ‐ A/V design could allow for projecting into gym or overflow spaces during large regional meets  David Spurr ‐ water polo season (April to October?) does not overlap with swim season o Officials would want clear sight lines around pool perimeter, remove starting blocks o Blocks can be stored long term on deck or in pool equipment storage when not in use during water polo season  Shallowest starting lane on east side is 6'‐6", sufficient for competition starts and for competition water polo o Stacey – what is the reason for shallow slope from 6'‐6" to 9'‐0"?  ACTION ITEM: CH to double check maximum slope requirement and explore the pool floor depth profile  If the cost isn't prohibitive, Stacey and other stakeholders would prefer the deeper uniform layout for all sports  The more uniform the pool depth, the better  Troy ‐ competition water polo goal on the east side is in lane 2, the deeper the pool gets quicker, the better  David Spurr ‐ some people may take advantage of the floor at 6'‐6" depth by east water polo goal o John Wendland ‐ why does floor have to slope at all?  CH understanding of pool requirements is that primary use will be training and competition by athletes, but pool will still be open to recreational users.  Lake Oswego jurisdiction has stated they will be stricter about accessibility requirements for a pool open to a recreational user group than a special‐use pool for training  Some patrons don’t feel safe or comfortable in extremely deep water  John Wendland ‐ Will there actually be recreational swimming in comp pool?  Ivan ‐ there will be some recreational use  Open swim, inflatables, etc, multi‐use rec swimmers  There will be (3) 25Y lanes in recreational pool as approved by Lake Oswego City Council  Intent of competition pool is primarily to keep it ready for training and competition, use by school district and club teams  John Wallin ‐ how much would building need to expand by to fit bleachers on west side? o Do any of the proposed changes impact revenue generation potential?  Ivan ‐ no, bulkhead placement still accommodates all course configurations  Expects to see bulkhead in the middle of the pool as the primary use case for training and for recreational swimming Page 3  John Wendland ‐ want to make sure Fire Department can use pool for diving training o Ivan ‐ needed max depth of 9'‐6"  Can't meet SCUBA certification (needs more than 9'‐6")  Billy – 9’‐0” depth allows for Red Cross lifeguard training  Will need to add a second lift point to west end of pool for accessible entry while bulkhead is in place o Ken & Ivan ‐ City is treating this as two separate bodies of water because bulkhead is never being fully removed  CH will add second accessible lift, probably to southwest corner of pool  John Wallin ‐ what's lifespan of bulkhead? o Mike Gartland ‐ Stark bulkheads will last 25+ years, can last as long as 50 o David Spurr expressed concerns about operation of bulkhead and potential for dropping air compressor into water.  Operation of bulkhead will be left to trained operations staff only. Air compressors designed for use near pools and all natatorium outlets will be GFI.  Remaining agenda items to be discussed in future meeting o Pool Overflow Systems o Deck & Loose Equipment o Timing & Display systems o A/V & Speaker systems
