Approved Minutes - 1976-04-22 (02) Transportation Task Force Minutes of ninth Meeting April 22, 1976 Present; John Collins, Pat McDougalp Tonsy Sylvester, Marshall Goldberg, Mark Shepard, Iyla Peterson, Tony Johnson, Tom Woolcott, Bill Jurevic, Marcie Kirschbaum, Bob Burnham, Jane Howarth (observer), Doug Wentworth (ob- server), Glen Gray (observer) Nrinutes of the previous meeting were approved after deletion of the words "for inclusion in the preliminary report" in the last sentence, concerning the FAIT traffic proposal. Marcie Kirschbaum will serve as recordeGr for the next three weeks. Glen Gray, representing the State Bikeways Commission, talked to the task force about the Lake Oswego Bikeway plan and related nearby bike routes. He reviewed existing and proposed bikeways in the city area, including the George Rogers Park bridge, and suggested that a good system would pro"uvide one alternative to motorized transportation. He recommended that there should be a permanent bikeways advisory committee formed to keep City Hall aware of what should be done in this area. Gray also showed the Task Force a plaint for a bike/pedestrian overpass over Kruse Clay, which he is proposing to submit for a Bikeways Demonstration Grant, which would mean 80e federal funding. He asked for the Task Force 's opinion of the plan. Marcie Kirschbaum was delegated to bring back a recommendation on the matter for action at the next meeting. John Collins reported on hismeeting with the Sub-Committee of the Lake Oswego Planning Commission on Circulation Plan and Road Standards. They rant the task forces--particulary those on Transportation, Growth, and Commercial, to be involved in X# the planning process, and -.rill urge that the Manning Commission wait for the,, task force input before any policy decisions are made. They ;'also plan to keep us informed of any information relevant to our areas that comes up in lfiQ& Planning Commission meetings. The materials included in the preliminary reports from all the task forces was reviewed, along with the covering memorandum from the Planning Commission. The one for transportation that John compiled from the sub-committee reports at last creek 's meeting was eval- uated. It was felt that in refining it we should strive for more facts and specifics to give our recommendations validity. For example, we should obtain verifiable data in order to support recommendwU—Icns solutions to specific street and circulation problems. Following the meeting of the full task force, the sub-committees met to work on their areas of concern.
