Prior work sessions were held in June, July and August of 2018. At the August work <br />session, the Commission accepted staff’s recommendation to create an on-line community <br />survey addressing attitudes and concerns about STRs. The Commission also recommended that <br />staff research STR regulations in other communities that are similar to Lake Oswego. <br /> <br />STR Regulations in Other Cities <br /> <br />Staff contacted 36 cities throughout the nation to review STR regulations or lack thereof. Staff <br />primarily focused on communities with the following characteristics: <br /> <br />• Relatively affluent suburbs <br />• Populations under 80,000 <br />• Non-resort <br /> <br />Staff included a number of Portland-area suburbs for direct context comparison. Attachment A <br />is a summary of the cities that were surveyed, and Attachment B identifies the STR regulations <br />for each city that specifically regulates the use.
