Medical Gaslighting (October 2025)
Wednesday, October 1, 2025 - 10:00am to 11:30am
Dr. Alicia Patterson,
Ethics Professor, Oregon State University
Medical gaslighting is a hidden but widespread issue that can compromise trust and outcomes in healthcare. In this eye-opening talk, Dr. Alicia Patterson draws from her expertise in ethics to illuminate the subtle ways patient voices—particularly those of women, people of color, and older adults—are sometimes dismissed in clinical settings.
Learn how to identify the signs of medical gaslighting, understand its historical and systemic roots, and gain tools to advocate more effectively for yourself and others. This talk empowers participants with both knowledge and confidence.
