Friday, November 1, 2024 - 10:00am to 12:00pm
Join us for an engaging and enlightening program with Cari Taplin, as she delves into the fascinating world of family legends. Cari will guide the audience through a captivating exploration of the life of Roy Rogers (Leonard Slye), providing an insightful outline of his journey from humble beginnings to becoming a beloved cultural icon. Through meticulous census research, Cari will illustrate how her family's legend of being related to Roy Rogers holds up under scrutiny, offering a unique perspective on the significance and impact of family lore.
In addition to her presentation, Cari will showcase a short documentary titled “Searching for Roy,” created by her cousin, Betsy Greer. This documentary further highlights the importance of family legends and their role in shaping our understanding of heritage and identity. Audience members will gain valuable insights into the methods and tools used in genealogical research, as well as the personal stories that make this field so compelling.
