Strong and Safe Water Reservoirs

Keeping drinking water safe is vital to the health and economy of our communities and reservoirs play an important role. Recent earthquakes in Mexico, Chile and Japan have given engineers a better understanding of the effects of catastrophic events on key facilities like power and water.

With this new understanding, and research indicating that Western Oregon could experience a large earthquake in the next 50 years, Partnership facilities, like the Waluga Reservoir 2, were engineered for earthquake resilience. The Partnership also expands a network of interconnected water systems in the region—increasing water reliability for Lake Oswego, Tigard, West Linn and other communities.
