Council Awards Construction Contract to Wildish

We are embarking on a major milestone! On May 21, City Council awarded a contract to Wildish Standard Paving to build the Boones Ferry Road project improvements. After 20 years of planning and design for this complex project, construction is now upon us!

Boones Ferry Road is the centerpiece of the Lake Grove area, and this project will create a safer, more welcoming and convenient pedestrian and bicycle environment, where auto traffic is accommodated efficiently and safely, stormwater is treated naturally, and businesses’ needs are successfully met.

Meet the Contractor on June 6!

You are invited to meet the contractor, Wildish, and learn more about construction, and traffic impacts. Please join us:

Thursday, June 6
6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
LO Maintenance Center
17601 Pilkington Road, Lake Oswego

There will be a brief presentation at the beginning of the meeting, followed by a Q+A session. A summary of the meeting will be posted online shortly after the event.

We hope to see you there!

Construction Expected to Begin Ramping Up in June

Preliminary work activities could begin as early as late May or early June. This may include crews bringing equipment to the project area, setting up a construction staging yard (corner of Boones Ferry Road and W. Sunset Drive), marking utilities with paint, and surveying the right-of-way.

In mid-June, crews plan to begin removing approximately 100 trees located within the project corridor, which are permitted for removal. Unfortunately, for a project of this size, many trees will need to be removed to accommodate the street widening and improvements needed. However, the project team put forth a great effort in juggling all competing interests, to minimize tree removal and avoid impacts to trees in the corridor. Mitigation measures include the planting of 170 new trees, and more than 80 trees will be preserved and protected in the corridor. Click here for more information on tree removal and flagging.

Traffic Shifts Could Begin in Mid-June

During construction, some travel lanes will be closed and traffic will be shifted in the project corridor – but one travel lane will be open in each direction on Boones Ferry Road. At times, crews will be working both day and night. Construction is expected to take about two and a half years to complete.

More information about traffic shifts, sequencing and schedule will provided shortly. Please note, construction schedules change frequently. We will do our best to provide the latest information through our website and these e-newsletters.

There will be delays and disruption, but Boones Ferry Road will remain open during construction, as will local businesses – please support them and shop local!

Business Visits

Over the coming months, project staff and the contractor will be out visiting businesses in the project area to share information about construction, confirm contact information and hear concerns.  We look forward to meeting you!
