Utility Work Ongoing
Utility work continues on Boones Ferry Road between W. Sunset Drive and Quarry Road, and on Bryant Road and Firwood Road near Boones Ferry Road. This work includes installing waterlines, making cross connections, installing a new stormwater line, and installing vaults and conduit to coordinate the undergrounding operation.
The Bryant Road waterline work is expected to be complete in the next week. Crews plan to begin installing the new waterline on Firwood Road (night work) starting the week of 9/30.
Please expect delays and watch for lane closures and flaggers during night work – 10 p.m. – 6 a.m.
First Wall Pour!
This week, crews started pouring the first section of the major retaining wall in the active work zone at Bank of America. Other walls will be installed at the corner of Madrona and Boones Ferry, in front of the Lake Grove Dental office and in front of the O’Leary/Lake Grove Building.
Remaining Tree Removal
While most trees impacted by the project were removed in July, there are still a few trees that remain to be removed. These include one hazardous tree on Lanewood Street, two trees at the old Casa del Pollo location/Naomi’s Lamps, and two trees at the post office. All of these trees are permitted for removal.
The project team’s goal was to try and save the two trees at the post office (flagged in white and black polka dot ribbon). After further assessment with an arborist, unfortunately these trees are unable to be saved due to the underground utility work and sidewalk components that will significantly impact the roots of these trees.
Removal of these five trees is expected to take place Friday, 9/27 and Saturday, 9/28. While most of this work is expected to take place on the shoulders of the roadway or off the travel lanes on Boones Ferry Road, there may be times where a single lane closure is in place for safety. Please watch for signage and flaggers, and expect an increase in noise while chain saws and chipper trucks are in operation.
Nighttime Road Closures on Boones Ferry Road at Kruse Way (Springs/Mercantile) in October
In addition to the City’s planned street improvements for Boones Ferry Road, there are a number of private redevelopment projects taking place in the Lake Grove area, two major projects include the Springs and Mercantile developments at the corner of Kruse Way and Boones Ferry Road.
Starting in early-mid October, final paving is expected to take place on portions of Kruse Way and Boones Ferry Road for the Springs project (weather dependent). This work is expected to take about a week or so to complete and be done at night from 10 p.m. – 5 a.m. Monday to Friday.
During nighttime work hours, Boones Ferry Road will be closed at Kruse Way and traffic will be detoured around the construction zone, onto Mercantile Drive and Kruse Way Place. Please watch for flaggers, follow signage and drive cautiously.
