Another milestone was met this week when crews poured the first portion of new sidewalks and driveway aprons between Madrona Street and Firwood Road!
Additional concrete pours are scheduled over the coming month. Thank you to property owners and businesses for your cooperation and patience during the concrete pours.
Weather permitting, early next week crews plan to place some temporary hot asphalt down and also add some additional temporary striping within the project area travel lanes (including some side streets).
In mid-late February, crews also plan to begin paving a first base layer of asphalt on the west side of Boones Ferry Road between West Sunset Blvd. and Firwood Road., a portion of Bryant Road and a portion of Firwood Road. At this time, they may also install the new asphalt pathway on Lanewood Street (between First Citizens Bank and Boones Way). This work is weather dependent.
A final overlay of asphalt and permanent striping will be installed at the end of the project.
Walls
Crews continue to pour new retaining walls throughout the corridor. Stone masons have been placing stone veneer on new walls at Madrona Street and in front of the Olson Memorial Clinic. This work will continue over the next few months.
Utility Undergrounding
Crews continue installing underground conduit and utility vaults between Quarry Road and Oakridge Road. NW Natural has been installing a new gas line, and electrical crews have been installing electrical conduit for street lighting and signal power. Work will continue ramping up in this area over the coming months.
PGE is expected to arrive in late February to begin their switch from overhead to underground power in the area south of Quarry Road. They will switch over services, and eventually remove the above ground power poles between Bryant and Madrona (the first segment). Some of this work is taking place during the day, and some at night. Any planned shutdowns for customers will be coordinated by the utility companies, and typically occur after business hours.
Stormwater Lines
Crews have made good progress on installing a new stormwater line on Reese Road and Boones Ferry Road. This work is being conducted at night with flaggers, to minimize impacts to traffic. Stormwater work is expected to continue over the next few weeks before crews switch to installing a new waterline.
New Stop Sign at Madrona Street x Waluga Drive
This week, a new all-way stop was installed at the intersection of Madrona and Waluga. Curb extensions have also been installed here to help with traffic calming. Watch for this new traffic pattern.
Who’s Who on Boones Ferry Road
This month’s Who’s Who on Boones Ferry Road features Naomi’s Lampshades and Lamps!
Not many businesses can say they have operated in Lake Oswego since 1942, but Naomi’s is one of those rare treasures! They are a local, independently owned, full-service lamp and lampshade store (the biggest on the west coast).
Watch the video featuring owners Celina and Mark Williams sharing their story and love for making custom lamps and repairing them. There is a running joke among Naomi’s customers that if Naomi’s cannot fix it, nobody can! So come on by, bring in your old lampshade for a refresh, or see if they can make something special incorporating a sentimental item from your childhood or a unique keepsake. They may even turn you into a lamp!
