Naomi’s Lampshades and Lamps

This month’s Who’s Who on Boones Ferry Road features Naomi’s Lampshades and Lamps!

Established in 1942 in Lake Oswego, Naomi’s Lampshades and Lamps is a local, independently owned, full-service lamp and lampshade store, providing one-of-a-kind high-quality lamps and accessories. With over 8,000 lampshades available – and all American made – Naomi’s is the biggest lampshade supplier on the west coast. They also provide expert lamp repair and restoration, parts and accessories for all your lamp products (including the largest supply of finials), and custom lampshade and lamp design – often incorporating sentimental parts supplied by customers.

Naomi’s owners, Celina and Mark Williams, have operated the business for seven years, following from three previous owners who all retired at the store over its 77 year operation. They feel fortunate to operate a business that has been in the community for such a long time, having served multiple generations of Lake Oswego and Oregon residents.

Mark and Celina Williams have owned and operated Naomi’s for seven years

Celina has a special love for design. She particularly enjoys making her customers’ dream projects a reality. A fan of fixing anything and everything, Mark enjoys repairing lamps (and often other items!), but also making new and unique products. There is a running joke among Naomi’s customers that if Naomi’s cannot fix it, no one can.

Naomi’s staff have made some quirky and unique projects in their time, including incorporating baby shoes, glass cups, and shotguns or even making an Adam’s Family themed lamp for a Halloween party. One of their most spectacular projects was fixing and restoring the Swarovski crystal candelabras and lighting for the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in downtown Portland. Mark’s most memorable repair was restoring a chandelier to its original shape and beauty that was damaged during Hurricane Katrina.

Celina and Mark are looking forward to the new, fresh look the Boones Ferry Road project will bring to Lake Grove and to serving the new residents moving to the community.

At Naomi’s, they say that if you stand in the store long enough, they can turn you into a lamp! So come on by, bring in your old lampshade for a refresh, or see if they can make something special incorporating a sentimental item from your childhood or a unique keepsake! The friendly staff at Naomi’s are here to help make your dream project a reality!

They are also participating in our monthly Shop Lake Grove raffle, so be sure to drop off an entry card in the box.

Healthy Pet

This month’s Who’s Who on Boones Ferry Road features Healthy Pet!

Healthy Pet is a local, independently owned, holistic pet supply store that has been in business – on Boones Ferry Road – since 1986! They specialize in providing premium foods and high quality products that you may not find at the bigger box stores. Women owned and operated, Healthy Pet prides themselves on having passionate, knowledgeable, friendly, and long-standing staff members who are here to help provide solutions and give advice (with a side of therapy!) to customers and their pets.

Brittany, Kate, Andie and Snickers

Kate Bisturis, one of the managers at Healthy Pet, has worked there for 13 years. She grew up in Lake Oswego, attended Lakeridge High, and Healthy Pet was her first full time employer. Kate is proud she has been part of the Healthy Pet family for so long, seeing it grow and develop as an independent, small business in the community of Lake Oswego.

Healthy Pet loves supporting the people and pets of Lake Oswego. They particularly appreciate their incredible customers who are willing to go above and beyond for their personal pets, but also their store pets.

Tofu, Healthy Pet’s store cat!

Tofu is their latest store kitty, and she has a special story. She came to Healthy Pet from a shelter in Chehalis, Washington. She was 14 and had hyperthyroidism. Within a month of getting her, their incredible customers came together to raise enough money to have a special radioactive iodine treatment to help her. Thanks to the community, she is now doing fabulously and continues to enjoy ruling over the store and spreading kitty love to all!

So far during construction, Healthy Pet has appreciated having the blue signage to designate where business driveways are to help customers continue to access their store. Having been located right on the corner of Boones Ferry Road and Bryant for more than 30 years, they have seen how congested that intersection can get, and at times, daunting. They are looking forward to having that intersection improved for the safety and access of the traveling public.

The Holidays are a special time of the year at Healthy Pet! Stop by to check out their cute toys, apparel and holiday treats! They are also participating in our monthly raffle, so be sure to drop off an entry card in the box!

Patrick Ridgeway, Store Director at Zupan’s Lake Oswego, says the best part about being in Lake Oswego is the customers – they want to learn about the products, where they come from, and the history and story behind those products. They want to spend time here, experiencing great customer service.

While construction is often daunting, Patrick says now that they are several months into it, it has been better than expected – he appreciates the blue cones and extra steps the project team is doing to maintain customer accessibility. Zupan’s is looking forward to the completion of the road project, particularly when the new pedestrian mid-block crosswalk is installed, allowing pedestrians and customers to safely cross the street.

Stop by to visit Zupan’s this holiday season, and check out their incredible array of seasonal products, holiday decorations and locally sourced items! They are also participating in our monthly raffle, so be sure to visit the bakery/cafe and drop off an entry card in the box!

Olson Pediatric Clinic

This month’s Who’s Who on Boones Ferry Road features the Olson Pediatric Clinic!

Founded by Dr. Donald Palmer in the 1970’s, the Olson Pediatric Clinic has been operating in the same Lake Grove location for that entire period. They have a warm and friendly atmosphere, and a caring approach to medicine. The clinic has a long-standing relationship with their patients – many original patients now also bring their kids in as patients.

Currently, the clinic features six providers: Dr. Vinaya Pai, Dr. Barbara Sniffen, Dr. Elizabeth Graff, Dr. Meri Harper, Dr. Brian Kittams, and Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman. These pediatricians provide personalized care with each of their patients and families.

The Olson Pediatric Clinic provides great access – open 364 days a year, weeknights until 7 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., and most holidays. There is an on-site laboratory at the clinic, and they can offer longer appointments for more complex concerns if needed.

Safety is paramount and the clinic is particularly looking forward to better pedestrian access for their patients and families, and safer access for cyclists with the Boones Ferry Road project improvements. Their young patients have been enjoying seeing all the construction equipment, so we dressed up their minion mascot with a safety vest and hard hat as a reminder to be safe and seen!

Stop by to visit the Olson Pediatric Clinic, and check out their brand new website and logo – new look, same great service!

Lake Grove Family Medical Clinic

We’re kicking off our Shop Lake Grove Campaign! For our first Who’s Who on Boones Ferry Road we are featuring the Lake Grove Family Medical Clinic.

The clinic is a small, private family medical practice, featuring two providers – Doctor David Selby and Physician Assistant Christie Schoppe. Together, they have a combined 35 years of serving the Lake Oswego community!

Dr Selby is board certified in Family Practice.  Because he is a Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) he is trained to treat musculoskeletal issues with Osteopathic manipulation. Christie Schoppe is a Board Certified Physician Assistant specializing in Family Practice, with a large practice of Women’s healthcare.

The Lake Grove Family Medical Clinic offers treatment for everything between preventative medicine, annual physicals to treatment of diabetes, hypertension, depression, in-office surgeries and all that encompasses the medical care of a family.

Walking through this clinic, you don’t get the feeling like you are walking through a typical doctor’s office. It is well-decorated throughout, featuring images and paraphernalia of airplanes and aircraft, representing many of Dr. Selby’s patients and his specialty as a Senior Aviation Medical examiner – he sees first, second and third class pilots for their physicals.

The clinic is excited to see how the Boones Ferry Road project develops and improves the community. Staff are particularly looking forward to the new and improved crosswalks and sidewalks, improving pedestrian connectivity, and having turnarounds for patients with permitted u-turns at the new signalized intersections.

Stop by to visit the Lake Grove Family Medical Clinic – they are accepting new patients and can get you an appointment in a timely manner!
