New Traffic Shift Coming in Mid-November
Weather permitting, starting the week of 11/18, the work zone is expected to expand further north. The current temporary traffic configuration on Boones Ferry Road from W. Sunset Drive to Bryant Road will be extended to Reese Road (at the post office).
Some existing striping will be removed and new temporary striping placed. Instead of four lanes there will be three: one lane in each direction, plus a center turn lane. Traffic will be shifted to the west side of the road while crews work on the east side. This traffic change will give crews room to maneuver and still keep the road open, but at times there will be flaggers and brief delays with equipment.

Once this new work zone is set up on Boones Ferry Road between Bryant and Reese Road, crews will begin installing a new gas line, illumination conduit, water line and stormwater line on the east side (Healthy Pet/Car Wash side).
Multiple Crews Working Day and Night
Crews are installing the handful of remaining utility vaults for the first section of the undergrounding, between Madrona and Bryant Roads. They are also installing retaining walls, new illumination poles and signal poles, and grading and preparing the area for pouring new curbs in early December. NW Natural Gas is also installing gas lines and services.
Utility companies (Comcast, Centurylink, Wave, PGE, CBX) will now arrive to begin pulling their lines through the newly installed conduit, configuring their vaults, switching over services, and eventually removing the above ground power poles. This utility switch over operation is expected to continue through early 2020. Some of this work will take place during the day, and some at night. Any planned shutdowns for customers will be coordinated by the utility companies.
Starting next week, crews expect to continue progressing north towards Oakridge Road on the underground joint utility trench, installing conduits and vaults on the west side of the road (Albertson’s/Banner Bank/Riccardo’s side). This work is expected to be conducted at night with lane closures and flaggers.
Work is almost complete on the new stormwater line on Boones Ferry Road, between Madrona and Bryant Road. During this night work, lanes are reduced and traffic is flagged 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. The signal at Bryant/Firwood/Boones Ferry is also flagged at night if crews are working close to the intersection.
New and Temporary Signal Poles
New permanent signal pole foundations have been poured at the Madrona and Bryant intersections. Some have been installed at the new McDonald’s intersection. Next week, crews plan to pour the temporary signal pole foundations at Reese/Oakridge intersection at night. During this work, the signal will be shut down at night and traffic will be flagged.
Crews have installed the foundation and meter cabinet for the new speed radar feedback sign on Quarry Road. Mid-late next week they expect to install the final sign and connect the power. This work is expected to take one day to complete. Traffic will be flagged from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
