The Chester B. and Rose S. Van Houten House retains the key character-defining features of a Tudor Revival house. This style was extremely popular in suburban areas in the United States from the 1920s through the 1940s and is particularly common in Lake Oswego.
The home has many of the character-defining features and references to England’s Tudor period, including its ornamental half-timbering, steeply pitched roof, asymmetrical, cross-gabled plan, multi-paned casement windows, segmentally arched window with lattice glass and gable jerkinhead roof.
